Mike leaves Big Country

After a day or so of rumours it's officially been announced that Mike will no longer be involved with Big Country after the conclusion of the "Lands End..." tour last night in Grimsby. Anyone who saw the band with Mike will know that he bought his passion and gave his all in helping the Big Country legacy continue on stage and off with the brilliant studio album "The Journey".

In The Poppy Fields will stop to actively report on Big Country matters unless they purport to Mike as we are an Alarm site and there are specific BC sites out there.

Next year will be a busy one as always, kicking off with The Gathering before the 30th anniversary "Declaration" solo tour and rumours of new Alarm material too!

Big Country to play Sunshine Music Festival

Big Country are advertised on the bill of the Sunshine Music Festival that will be held across the August Bank Holiday weekend next year in Upton upon Severn in Worcestershire. The band will play the main stage on a non specified day as of yet sharing the bill with an eclectic mix of names including Secret Affair, The Sweet, Marty Wilde and Showaddywaddy!

First Big Country date announced for 2014

Popping up on the See Tickets site tonight is news that Big Country will be playing in Fulham on March 20th of next year at Under The Bridge in Fulham Road SW6.

Big Country have announced that there will be special meet & greet packages available on the upcoming Lands End to John O'Groats tour. The price will be at £100 but does NOT include the price of the ticket which you need to purchase separately.

Big Country UK Tour announced

Big Country have today announced they will be touring the UK again during October / November. The tour is dubbed Land's End To John O'Groats and takes in some venues and towns that the band do not normally get to play including the Shetland Isles. Dates can be found on the poster....

Big Country - The Forum London 2nd June 2013

The rescheduled show from April finally went ahead and the wait proved.......well worth it!!! An absolutely awesome set from Big Country with the new tracks proving amazing live, in fact amongst the many highlights for me were the storming versions of "Last Ship Sails" and "Winter Fire". Also the LHS volunteers signed up donor 1000 on this, the last night of the UK tour so a massive well done to all volunteers and for those that "Got On The List"!

Big Country reschedule London date!

Due to a rescheduling issue Big Country have been forced to change the date of their London gig. The NEW date is now the 2nd June and all tickets from the original concert on the 21st April remain valid.

Big Country - Mike & Bruce radio appearance tonight!

Mike Peters and Bruce Watson will be on the Billy Sloan show on Clyde 2 tonight from 8 p.m. They will be discussing the new album "The Journey" which is available in stores from tomorrow and also the tour that starts at the end of the week.

Big Country & Archive new videos unveiled

Big Country and Archive have both posted videos for their new singles on You Tube today. Big Country have "Hurt" from "The Journey" album which is available from Monday with "Hurt" available digitally from i-Tunes now. While Archive will be releasing "Stick Me In My Heart" from the excellent "With Us Until You're Dead" album on the 20th May alongside some new remixes.

Big Country album gets radio preview

Mike Peters and Bruce Watson will be interviewed for Scottish Radio station Radio Clyde and will air along side a playback session of the new album "The Journey" on Sunday 7th April (the day before the albums release).

You can also hear some of the album on the Billy Sloan Sessions Show tonight (Sunday 24th March) which is broadcast between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m.

I've been sitting on these dates for a couple of weeks waiting for official confirmation as I couldn't verify them at the time via ticket agencies or the venues websites directly. But now Bruce has confirmed via the Big Country forums that these dates are indeed genuine! What's more there will hopefully be further dates to come so watch this space!

Cherry Red have announced that they will be releasing a limited edition version of the upcoming Big Country album on vinyl for all you audiophiles out there! New Big Country date

Big Country tonight have confirmed that they will be playing at Cultuurpodium, Zoetermeer in the Netherlands on 14th May.
